Final Prints Ordered..and Breathe.

After a last minute decision to go to the printspace in person and order my prints ( a very good choice) I can finally relax...for a little bit. I have learnt that calibrating my screen is a must and I need to get it done asap.

So thats sort of it in terms of visual work for the course but no rest for the wicked I still have tonnes of things to do. It never ends. In the meantime here is something from my final shoots that did not make the cut.

Degree Show Looming

With the university internal show and external degree show dates slowly creeping up, it may appear as if i've been slacking with this blog,  however,  a part of me also wants to save some of my images until I exhibit them in my show. In the mean time I have been doing work so here are a couple example images from my latest shoots.

Website

So with the new updated look for the blog I have also gone and made a website.
A more tidy version of my blog essentially and a place to view the different projects I have done with more clarity.

So please feel free to check it out, and also let me know if it works.

The viewing experience

Long time no post, now that dissertation and research package is handed in I can get back to focusing on the degree show project. Whilst you've probably seen some of these scenes previously, this test shoot of projecting the images larger and onto a screen gives a sense of where this project is going. I'm trying to investigate how our different viewing experiences of images can affect or manipulate the relationship between the viewer and the image. i.e turning the photographic into the realms of the cinematic.

Shoot 03.

After some feedback on my previous shoots I was told to watch more independent films and take note on what they intended for the viewer to see. So far I have watched "Unrequited Love" by Chris Petit...A film based around ideas of stalking and being stalked. Slightly confusing and frustrating but some lovely framing within it, and so I have done a small shoot based on that. Also still haven't moved away from windows yet...

Shoot No.2

Selection of portraits from my second shoot for my project.

Project vaguely explained

I realised that I have yet to explain what my project is about and what I intend to do with the images I have already posted. Although only a rough idea... I want to explore ideas of the viewing experience and the mix of the still and cinema experience. And after a productive chat with Jean I am also looking into ideas of the subject internalising themselves as an image. The images above are just for development to see how they look on a bigger screen and in front of a viewer.

The Start

As mentioned in the previous post I've started taking photographs for my degree show project. Going well so far, but we'll see how long that lasts... Here are a few from my first shoot.

Out of a rut

Getting back into the swing of uni is always a tough time but for once I have an established idea of what I want to do for my degree show, i'm excited about it ...but now I just need to get into the habit of shooting consistently. So to get out of the rut I turn back to the challenge I find doing a self portrait.

After getting this quick test shoot out the way, I've managed to do a successful shoot this weekend so even though I hate pictures of myself it's come in handy just to get me out of a rut.

507

So I finally got my book back which I titled 507 that I handed in for uni based around documenting my facebook. Although it wasn't completely successful I was definitely pleased with the layout and the overall finish. Here is a small selection of photographs to give you a feel of what it looks like.
